Our Blog
Chester Energy and Policy started in 2017 as a blog before blossoming into a full consulting business. The goal of the blog originally was simple: answer interesting questions in the world of energy & sustainability that weren’t being answered elsewhere, tapping into energy data sets, expert interviews, and a unique lens.
Today, the blog section of Chester Energy and Policy seeks to continue that mission: answering interesting questions. If you have a question that you think is worth diving into for a blog post, reach out and let us know! .

In case you missed it, all last week Energy Central announced our yearly winners of the 'Top Voices' recognition. Since that time, our communities have grown, engagement is at an all-time high, and we are seeing more and more collaboration and sharing. This progress is all happening thanks to you, the valued Community Member!

If there’s one truth that 2020 has really hammered home for us in the utility industry, it’s how important great leadership and calm, thoughtful management is to the sector. Welcome Mark Damm: New Expert in the Digital Utility Community - [an Energy Central Power Perspectives™ Expert Interview]
The Internet of Things. Digitalization. Cloud Computing Solutions. We hear about these concepts so much that we run the risk of just assuming that they are typical buzzwords. While some people may throw the terms around freely, in the right hands these concepts are truly transformative and will continue to pace the future of the utility industry (as those working in the field know they’ve already done to an extent). Listening to experts on these topics is the best way to realize their value and ensure that the energy sector doesn’t brush them off but rather embraces the true power of what they can accomplish.

I’ve already outlined what DTECH means to the utility landscape, but as you can imagine, takeaways from the leading transmission and distribution event in the United States are as varied as they are deep. When you’re talking about a program that featured over 800 speakers and covered everything from grid network model management to the challenges keeping utility execs awake at night, the feedback is going to be as diverse as the tech itself. Having to also navigate a tradeshow floor with nearly 700 companies means you’re never going to be able to see it all, which makes it all the more important to get a sense of what caught other people’s attention.
